New Ecotools Brushes!

I love me some new brushes - even better when they are cheap at the drugstore!

The Ecotools Eye Enhancing Duo Set caught my eye the other day as I was strolling through the drugstore.  If they aren't new, I've never seen them before. I have a multitude of Ecotools brushes among others and honestly, for the price, these can't be beat!

These are super soft & fluffy and they are dual-ended. I'm not sure how I feel about the latter part yet, but it's an interesting concept. This lovely little set comes with a shader/shadow brush, an angled liner brush, a fluffy blending brush & a smudging brush.  These are all made with bamboo, recycled materials and are cruelty-free!!

These retail for about $10.00 in Canada, but I found them on sale for $7.00 - that's $1.75 per brush folks!

Laura Mercier Creme Brulee Honey Bath

I am a huge fan of Lush bath products. So much that I almost never take a bath without some kind of lush product in hand.

Upon browsing on the Sephora website a couple weeks ago, I decided that it was time to expand my bathing horizons. This Laura Mercier Creme Brulee Honey Bath is one of several variations of the Honey Bath line.

It retails for $54.00 for 12oz. here in Canada. It would seem that this variation is only available online.

The bubbles are lovely and the scent fills the room with a sweet vanilla.  It comes with a slightly gimmicky honey dipper, which actually helps to run the product under the water & create the bubbles. I suspect that even if it did cost a fair chunk of change, it will work out to being MUCH cheaper per bath than Lush.  It might just get me away from my addiction (unlikely).

New foundation | Maybelline's Dream Wonder

I was so fed up with my usual foundation this week! It's been sticky, greasy & just all around not sitting well on my skin these days. So I sauntered on down to the drugstore to check out some new options yesterday and came up with ...

Maybelline's Dream Wonder Liquid Touch Foundation

This foundation is extra thin and extra creamy.  This one is in the shade 10 Porcelain Ivory because yes, I am that pale (especially heading towards the colder months).

I was fortunate to find a tester in my store, so I was able to open it up & check out the product before I bought it.  It's very liquid, to the point where it feels kind of like you're spreading water all over your face. Aside from being thin, it does seem to cover pretty well, while still feeling light & airy on the skin.  I have a few blemishes right now & some uneven colour in the cheek area & it definitely smoothed and blurred everything out.

The wand, well, it's bizarre.

Now look at that. It's teardrop shaped, but I thought (obviously I didn't play with the tester long enough) that it was a sponge. It is not a sponge, it is a piece of hard plastic.  It is pointy at the top & it supposed to somehow be used as a good dispensing method for this stuff. I tried. I tried so hard to figure out how to use this weird plastic teardrop dispenser. I ultimately poured a tiny amount onto the back of my hand. I guess if you were really excited about the wand you could rub it on your face?  It doesn't pick up very much product though.

I put it on using a mixture of my fingers and a makeup sponge to apply it. It goes on very smoothly & feels amazing on the skin.Using the sponge assured that I didn't end up with extra product anywhere weird. A little bit of concealer under the eyes & a sweep of powder in the T zone & I was good to go.

4 hours later, I still feel like it looks fantastic. No oily skin, no dry patches.  Seems to work fairly well with combination skin!  I will probably be wearing it for about 4 more hours before I wash my face, so we will see what it looks like after dinner this evening.

Welcome internet beauties!

Full disclosure - I am terrible at blogging.  I start, I get distracted by life & I subsequently quit.

But I'm going to try! I have so much to say, but so little time in which to share. I am excited about makeup, skincare & beauty in general. I work in an industry that is less than excited about these things & I need an outlet for my thoughts & opinions.

Some things about my obsession:

  1. I wear way more makeup than 99% of my coworkers (most of whom are indeed female)
  2. My husband doesn't get it - AT ALL (I still love him though)
  3. I love everything from high-end to drugstore to specialty store brands
  4. I am brutally honest, but always give everything a fair chance.

Ready for an adventure with me?  I hope I am.

Cheers,
Kait
